VIC:1953 Melb Cup Trainers trophy found

MELBOURNE, Aug 29 AAP - The 1953 Melbourne Cup Trainers Cup, believed stolen in a burglary
in Melbourne's north, has been found inside the owner's ransacked home.

Police said someone broke into a unit in St Leonards Road, Ascot Vale, between 6.30pm
and 11.45pm (AEST) on Saturday and stole the trophy and a computer.

But they later said the cup had been found in the unit on Sunday morning.

Police are still investigating the theft of the computer.

The 18-carat gold cup was awarded to Robert Sinclair for training the 1953 Melbourne
Cup winner Wodalla.
